How the 20% discount works

New members get 20% off their first month. That’s where the lower “first month” prices in the table come from. The code THERAPY20 gives the same 20% discount — if you don’t see the reduced price at checkout, enter it there. From the second month on, you pay the regular price for your plan.

Which plan should you choose?

  • Basic if you mostly want to work through the CBT program at your own pace with written feedback, and you’re comfortable without live sessions. It’s the cheapest way in.
  • Standard if you want a real weekly conversation with your therapist. For most people starting therapy for anxiety, stress, or low mood, this is the best balance of support and cost.
  • Premium if you’re going through a hard stretch and want two sessions a week plus faster replies.
  • Couples if you want to work on your relationship together, with one joint session a week.

You can change plans later, so starting with Standard and adjusting after a few weeks is a reasonable approach.

Is it cheaper than in-person therapy?

Usually, yes, when you’re paying out of pocket. Psychology Today reports that most US clinicians charge between $100 and $200 per session. Four in-person sessions a month at those rates would cost roughly $400 to $800. The Standard plan costs about $390 a month at the regular price and includes unlimited messaging and the CBT program on top of the weekly session.

If your health insurance covers in-network therapy with a low copay, though, in-person or insurance-based online therapy may cost you less. Check your benefits before deciding.

Ways to lower the cost

  • Use your HSA or FSA card. Online-Therapy.com accepts them (your card issuer still decides whether to approve each charge). The IRS’s Publication 502 lists payments to psychologists and for psychiatric care among eligible medical expenses.
  • Ask for financial aid. Online-Therapy.com offers financial aid for students, veterans, and people on low incomes; you apply during checkout.
  • Request reimbursement. It doesn’t bill insurance directly, but it can give you itemized receipts to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
  • Start on Basic. If budget is tight, the program plus messaging is the lowest-cost option, and you can upgrade later.
  • Pause instead of canceling when you need a break: you can pause for 1 to 4 weeks.
